90 DAY FOOD CHALLENGE WITH FRANKIE SHAW

Hi Beauties! So my gorgeous friend Frankie Shaw & I are on location together filming a movie. (She is the female lead of Blue Mountain State The Movie) If you don't know her from that, then you know her from the million cool independent films she has done as well as several TV shows like Mixology and Hello Ladies.

We went out to dinner the first night we got here and while everyone whipped out the menu to see what they wanted, she went into her bag and whipped out a tupperware container filled with food! Of course everyone made fun of her. Why was she bringing food into a nice restaurant?! After taking the abuse like a champ, she informed us about her 90 day food challenge. For 90 days straight she would only eat something if she cooked it herself. WHAT?! How is this possible? She is traveling, on set and to make things even more challenging, a mom to a beautiful 6 year old. She explained that she just goes out and gets what she needs for the week, cooks it up and has her meals planned out. I have not seen her eat a single thing from craft service and even after a very long day yesterday, between taking a shower and putting her son to bed, she managed to find time to cook for the next couple of days. She is my hero.

Seeing her commitment, how rocking her body is and how beautiful her skin is, I wanted to jump on the band wagon. Who else wants to join us? I will officially be starting this tomorrow and will document the journey along the way. HOW am I gonna go 90 days without sushi or Chinese food?! Can YOU do it? Here is a sample day:

BREAKFAST: 

  • Granola or shredded wheat
  • 8 oz yogort
  • 6 oz fruit

LUNCH:

  • 6 oz salad
  • 2 oz feta
  • 3 oz rice
  • 1 tbs oil

DINNER:

  • 6 oz salad (kale)
  • squash
  • 3 oz rice
  • 8 oz tofu

I personally would need to add in more protein like a piece of organic chicken or fish and some snacks.

BAKED APPLE:

Here is a great healthy snack idea to satisfy your sweet tooth.(It works on her 6 year old, it can work on you!)

  • Peel an apple
  • Roll it in cinnamon
  • Put in the microwave for 2 min

 

RECIPE FOR THE SQUASH:

Take one organic Kabocha squash.

  • Put the whole thing in the oven and cook at 450
  • Cook for an hour until the outside is a little burnt
  • Remove from oven
  • Cut in half
  • Scoop out the inside and seeds.
  • Chop remaining parts into big chunks.
  • Lay back on tray, drizzle with olive oil and salt
  • Roast for 10 minutes.
