A LOVE LETTER TO MY DOGS AND WHY YOU SHOULD ADOPT!

To the girls who never judge, always love and make us smile, IMG_3851

Thank you.

You love unconditionally, never hold grudges or dwell on the negatives. You are always excited to see us. I can go outside for a second and when I come back, you greet me as if you haven't seen me for days. You teach us the importance of living in the moment and being grateful for the little things most people take for granted, like going on a walk or eating breakfast. Every moment is brand new for you and you seize it. You teach us not to sweat the small stuff. It's really not all that important anyway right? It doesn't take much to make you happy. You get excited over seeing a squirrel. A squirrel. You see them every day! You always know when I'm happy and when I'm sad. You know how to distract me enough but not make me mad. You have taught me about responsibility and selflessness and you make every day mundane things way more fun! Sure, sometimes you get into trouble and do something bad but it's very rare that we could ever stay mad. You aren't just dogs, you are our family. You are our best friends.

We  love you so much!!!

For those of you who have dogs, I know that every word rings true to you. Go do something special for your little furry child today! For those of you who don't, I would love to open your eyes to adopting a pet. They say that you should rescue and save an animal but the truth is, these animals end up saving you. It's the only  investment you will ever make that gives an automatic return. I have had my girls since they were both 2 months old and it was the best decision I ever made. I don't know how I would've ever gotten through certain periods of my life without them.

Here are some rescues that I personally love

Pug Nation

Pet Mania

Lhasa Happy Homes

Bill Foundation

I THINK VS I FEEL/MAN VS WOMAN

I had lunch with a girlfriend today and she started talking to me about her relationship. She said she feels like her boyfriend and her have been lacking in communication lately and feels a little disconnected from him. She feels like he is "the one" and wants to make it work. She's feeling a lot of different things right now. She was asking for my advice on how she can communicate with him better. I'm no expert in the field but I remember reading an article about the way men and women process things differently. Women are feelers, Men are thinkers. If her boyfriend were having the same convo with one of his friends he'd probably say, "I think she's the one and I think I really want to make it work" Not to say men don't feel, of course they do, they just process what they're feeling in a totally different way than women do. Ask a man what he feels like having for dinner? You probably won't get an answer, He will probably say he doesn't know or care but ask him what he thinks he wants and I can almost guarantee you he will tell you. Try it, Its fun!

LESSONS FROM MY DOG TO YOU

Keeping her paw elevated My boxer Charlie is a really tough girl. In all the years I've had her, I've never really heard her yelp. The other day she was laying on the couch and someone rang the doorbell. She must have jumped up too quickly or just landed on her leg the wrong way and sprained it. She yelped really loudly and I got scared, as I mentioned before, this is extremely unusual for her. She started limping and was clearly in a lot of pain. Which of course, led me to baby and nurture her as much as I possibly could.

Charlie trying to get comfy.

Well, my Fiancé and I left to go to a BBQ for a few hours and when we came home, she was at the door, jumping and acting like she was perfectly fine. How is it, that she healed that quickly? You know damn well if that were you or I, that sprained ankle would've lasted at least a week. How did hers heal so fast?  My theory is that it's because she doesn't dwell on it and literally just forgets about it so there is no more pain. Everything is so psychological. Sometimes we make such a big deal out of things and put so much energy into thinking  that it's worse than it is, that we actually make it worse! Look, I'm not saying that things don't hurt and that real things can sometimes take a while to heal but what I learned from my little Charlie is seriously, stop sweating the small stuff. If you just don't think about it and forget about it, it just might actually go away. Try it and let me know what happens! I'm gonna do the same. xo
